Holder of a Ph.D in computer science specializing in image processing and algorithmic optimization, François Letierce worked for 5 years at MBDA as software designer for real-time, concurrent, distributed and object-oriented systems, before joining the CEA in 2013 as a Research Engineer.

First developer, then software architect of a parallel numerical simulation code, he introduced new software quality standards, promoted code modernization (C++) and developed several modules for HPC. Since 2019, he has contributed to several open source projects (Arcane, NabLab, …) in themes such as development of profiling and validation tools, generation of optimized multi-threaded C++ code, porting of code on heterogeneous machines, etc.

His current areas of interest and research are programming models for HPC, programming on accelerators and evolution of ISO C++ standard.

He participates in co-design meetings (Intel, Nvidia) so that CEA’s calculation codes needs can influence next machines features.

He is also a trainer and teacher on the subject of object-oriented software design, at the CEA and at the University of Paris-Saclay. He has supervised many apprentices and interns.
